Titus 2 Thursdays

Titus 2 Thursdays are offered Fall through Spring for adult women to worship, study the Word, and pray together. The concept of Titus 2 Thursdays is developed from Titus 2:3-5, which states older women are to encourage younger women.

We invite you to join us Thursday mornings from 9:20am to 11:45 at the church as we study God's Word together in Bible Study and develop personal growth through the application of God's Word in small sharing groups. Workshops are offered to help equip and encourage us as women to better serve our Lord in our God-given roles with our individual gifts and abilities.

The Children's Program for Titus will include the following ages:

Nursery: Ages Birth through 2 Years

Preschool: Ages 2 through Kindergarten

Home School: Kindergarten - 4th Grades

Our home school students will need to bring 1 hour worth of school work with them each week. They will also be doing some group reading, and participating in group study activities such as art, history, science and cooking. Please see Jessica Katen for additional information.

Session One: The Practice of Godliness: October 15 - March 11

This is a 14-week study based on the Jerry Bridges book, "The Practice of Godliness."

Scriptures teach us "godliness has value for all things" and that God has given us "everything we need for life and godliness." So how do we become godly women in the midst of a culture that is so quickly becoming anti-God?

This exceptional study will help you understand the importance of godliness and challenge you to grow in the Christian character that flows from a life that is centered and devoted to God. We will discuss such topics as:

Our devotion to God that flows from our fear, love and desire for God
Training ourselves in godliness
Outward evidences of a godly woman such as: humility, contentment, thankfulness, joy, holiness, self-control, faithfulness, peace, patience, gentleness, kindness, goodness and love

Homework books will be available October 1st! We pray that you will join us this fall as we study the Word of God together, seeking His will for our lives, allowing His word and the work of the Spirit to refine us into the likeness and glory of our Savior Jesus Christ.

Session Two: Twelve Extraordinary Women: March 18 - May 13
This is a study based on the John MacArthur book, "Twelve Extraordinary Women."

One of the unique features of the Bible is how it honors women. In fact, the very first chapter of the Scriptures teaches us that women, like men, carry the image of God. The lives of these extraordinary and faithful women will challenge you in your personal walk with Jesus as you face similar struggles and temptations. You will come to realize that these women were not extraordinary based on their own achievements or personal traits, but solely because the one true God, whom they worshiped, is great and mighty. They were able to see their need for redemption, allowing their Savior to refine them to His image. Together, we will be taking a closer look at the lives of:

Mary (mother of Jesus) and Mary Magdaline
Eve
Lydia & Anna
Hannah
Sarah
Rahab
Samaritan Woman
Mary & Martha

Homework assignments will be provided for an additional 5 days of study at home each week. Homework questions will be discussed during the small group portion of our time together on Thursday mornings.

Workshops:
"Reaching Our Community & World with the Gospel"

As believers, we are called to be "salt and light" to a rotting and dark world. The very fact that we are saved by faith should motivate us to reach out into a sin-damaged community with our message of the grace of God.

During our workshop time this year, we will be discussing and learning how we can minister to those whose livelihood is about sharing the gospel with the lost and dying world (missionaries). We will also be looking at the many different ways that God can use us to share the gospel with the unsaved people in our neighborhoods, our social circles and our schools.

How can God use you to bring the Gospel to the people of Maple Valley and its surrounding areas? These workshops will be fun and informative as we allow God to challenge us to reach our world with the Gospel fo Jesus Christ.

Break for the Holidays

Titus Thursdays will be taking a short hiatus for the holiday season. We will break after Titus on November 19th and return on January 14th so that we may focus completely on our famlies during the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays.
