We are glad that you are visiting our website. Our commitment in the Youth Ministry at Taylor Creek is to challenge teens with the life-changing Word of God. This is accomplished through Sunday School, mid-week meetings, ministry opportunities, activities, mission trips, and camps.
Sunday School: Junior High and High School meet at 9am to study God's word, currently we are going through a walk through of the entire Bible. We are focusing on the major themes, chapters and verses of each book of the Bible.
Youth Group Thursday Night: Junior High and High School meet together from 6:15pm to 8pm for a time of fellowship, accountability/prayer groups, worship and the study of God's Word. We just finished a study called "Learning from the Apostles" and we are entering a new study called, "What the Bible says about..." We will be going through topics such as Theology Proper, Christology, Pneumatology, Scripture, Sin, Salvation, etc.
Service Oriented: We understand that in today's world most are told to take care of themselves first, yet we are told by Christ to deny ourselves
(Mark 8:34,35) and Paul tells us to bear one another's burdens
(Galatians 6:1-3). So, we at Taylor Creek Church are committed to serving, not only our church body in different activities, but also our surrounding community. We do this through service projects, whether it be helping out others through yard work, to feeding the homeless (video below), we want to instill in the youth that the world doesn't revolve around us but revolves around servicing others' needs in humility.
Evangelism: We not only have opportunities set up for evangelism, such as our Maple Valley Days outreach, where students actively go out and share their faith face to face with strangers, but we also equip them on how to answer tough questions. We have done this through the study of "Defending the Faith" a study of apologetics put together by Seth McBee and Justin Evans and also through the study of
"The Way of the Master." This program is designed to teach Christians how to effectively share the Gospel the way Christ did. We want our youth to always be ready to give a defense of the hope that lies within them
(1 Peter 3:15) and we want them to actively be witnesses of Christ
(Acts 1:8).
I taught a sermon at youth group that answers the question as best as I can, "Why Are We Here?" If you would like to read it in its entirety
