We are glad that you are visiting our website.  Our commitment in the Youth Ministry at Taylor Creek is to challenge teens with the life-changing Word of God. This is accomplished through Sunday School, mid-week meetings, ministry opportunities, activities, mission trips, and camps.

Sunday School: Junior High and High School meet at 9am to study God's word, currently we are going through a walk through of the entire Bible.  We are focusing on the major themes, chapters and verses of each book of the Bible.

Youth Group Thursday Night: Junior High and High School meet together from 6:15pm to 8pm for a time of fellowship, accountability/prayer groups, worship and the study of God's Word.  We just finished a study called "Learning from the Apostles" and we are entering a new study called, "What the Bible says about..."  We will be going through topics such as Theology Proper, Christology, Pneumatology, Scripture, Sin, Salvation, etc.

Service Oriented: We understand that in today's world most are told to take care of themselves first, yet we are told by Christ to deny ourselves (Mark 8:34,35) and Paul tells us to bear one another's burdens (Galatians 6:1-3).  So, we at Taylor Creek Church are committed to serving, not only our church body in different activities, but also our surrounding community.  We do this through service projects, whether it be helping out others through yard work, to feeding the homeless (video below), we want to instill in the youth that the world doesn't revolve around us but revolves around servicing others' needs in humility.

Evangelism:
 We not only have opportunities set up for evangelism, such as our Maple Valley Days outreach, where students actively go out and share their faith face to face with strangers, but we also equip them on how to answer tough questions.  We have done this through the study of "Defending the Faith" a study of apologetics put together by Seth McBee and Justin Evans and also through the study of "The Way of the Master."  This program is designed to teach Christians how to effectively share the Gospel the way Christ did.   We want our youth to always be ready to give a defense of the hope that lies within them (1 Peter 3:15) and we want them to actively be witnesses of Christ (Acts 1:8).

I taught a sermon at youth group that answers the question as best as I can, "Why Are We Here?" If you would like to read it in its entirety click here

About Seth PDF Print E-mail
100_2072.jpgI have been the Youth Director at Taylor Creek Church since 2004 and my goal for the youth is summed up in two verses:

Whether, then, you eat or drink or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.
1 Corinthians 10:31

but sanctify Christ as Lord in your hearts, always being ready to make a defense to everyone who asks you to give an account for the hope that is in you, yet with gentleness and reverence;
1 Peter 3:15

The statistics say that 80% of youth in America leave the church after high school because of challenges and tough questions posed against the faith.  Although we don't design our teaching based on polls it is still imperative that we strengthen our youth in the love of doctrine.  It is my desire to preach the Word (2 Timothy 4:2) and teach the youth to crave the pure milk of the word (1 Peter 2:2) so that when those questions are posed to them they would have a defense of the hope that lies within them (1 Peter 3:15).  Our focus in youth group is completely surrounded by the sound teaching of God's word.  The focus and attention in our Youth Group is primarliy through teaching and learning from God's word.  I hope that you would come and find out why we believe that the word of God is our only rule of faith and Scripture alone changes lives and the only source of conviction of man's heart.

I have been married since 1999 to my beautiful wife Stacy and I have two kids, Caleb and Coleman.  I grew up in a Pastor's home and learned a lot what it was like of the ups and downs of ministry, and learned at an early age that our work here is not for man but for God (Colossians 3:23).  I went to Seattle Pacific University and received a BA in Business Administration with a Finance concentration.  I currently own and operate an investment firm in Bellevue where I have the opportunity to share Christ with a lot of people who rely on the visible instead of the invisible.   I am still learning and growing and can't wait to see where God takes the youth at Taylor Creek and pray that I could just be a vessel that He uses in His plan.  If you have any questions please don't hesitate to give me a call or email.  Another one of my convictions and desires is to see lost people come to Christ, no matter their age or place in life.

...he who is wise saves souls
Proverbs 11:30

With that in mind, I have also set up a website for our evangelism team to point people toward the love of Christ and the depth of God's salvation.  If you would like you can also check that out as well.  www.acts1730.com
